I have been wanting to add threaded comments to the blog so that is possible to reply to a specific comment rather than the whole chain of comments. In the past I had used the Brian’s Threaded Comment’s Plugin. There have been some changed to WordPress with 2.7 and 2.8 and Brian’s plugin has some been updated since 2008. I started to search for another solution but I couldn’t find a plugin that didn’t require me to make changes to the template.
A friend suggested Disqus as a solution. Disqus is a service outside of WordPress that allows people to create a profile which can be used whenever they leave comments on a blog that has Disqus – you don’t have to have a Disqus plugin to leave a comment on a blog with Disqus. Continue Reading »
Tracking your traffics is a key part of understanding and improving your website. Google Analytics is a free and easy tool to track your traffic and website statistics. Click here to read the post about Google Analytics.
There are 2 steps to getting started with Google Analytics – 1. set up an account at Google Analytics. 2. Add the tracking code to your website. Step 1 is easy. Step 2 can get a little tricky. In the past I have just added the analytics code to my wordpress theme, but then when I change the theme, I always forget to add the analytics code to the new theme.
A possible solution – A wordpress plugin for Google Analytics - Google Analyticator. The Google Analyticator is a plug that lets you add your google code once and it updates all of your templates for you. According to WordPress.org – 47,000+ people have already downloaded this plugin. I have installed it on this blog and a few others – so far so good.
Here are some other bloggers that have recommended this plugin:
EasyRedirect is a helpful plugin that lets your create an existing webpage. I used this plugin on IheartPGH to create a link to the IheartPGH Shop. The links across the top of the website are all pages in my website. I wanted to add a link to the shop. The Easy Redirect plugin makes this easy to do. I have also used this plugin to create a link to a category of the blog. For example if you wanted a menu link to all the blog posts about events – just create a page named events and then redirect to the events category of the blog.
